We Are The Champions!

There are so many reasons to love the great rock band Queen: certainly their “theatrical rock” was showcased in such tunes as “Somebody To Love”, “We Are The Champions” and of course, “Fat Bottomed Girls”, who make the rocking world go round!

Freddie Mercury And Queen

Queen formed in London in 1970, originally consisting of lead singer Freddie Mercury, guitarist Brian May, bassist John Deacon and Roger Taylor on drums. Queen’s earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock and heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works, incorporating further diverse styles into their music.

A Night At The Opera!

It was the brilliant album “A Night at the Opera” in 1975 that gained the band international success. Included was the seminal “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which stayed at number one in the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks, and gave the band their first top ten hit in the US.

It is also, without a doubt, one of the most iconic music videos of all time!

Reports say the “Borat” star apparently walked after his vision of a racy treatment depicting Mercury’s famously salacious lifestyle was at odds with the more family-friendly approach desired by the surviving members of the band.

Freddie Mercury’s story was certainly dramatic, as he hid his sexual preference, keeping his live private. However, his flamboyant lifestyle could have certainly led to a very controversial, edgy film about his life. Apparently, that’s not how the band wants him portrayed…

Cohen bears a strong resemblance to Mercury, although at 6ft 3in, the British actor is six inches taller than the Zanzibar-born Mercury!

Let’s hope that a new Actor comes on board the project, and fans get to see Mercury’s dramatic life turned into a movie!
